Restroom at local middle school vandalized with swastikas

Police in Montgomery County are investigating after the boys' restroom at Westland Middle School was found to have been vandalized with images of swastikas.

Westland Middle School Principal Alison L. Serino sent a letter home to parents on November 13 saying that the images were drawn in pen, pencil and glue stick and that, after investigation by the appropriate officials, the racist images were removed by school building services staff.

"This type of behavior will not be tolerated," she wrote."Once the culprit(s) are identified, consequences will be administered in accordance with the MCPS Student Code of Conduct."

Serino then said that school officials intend to continue working with local authorities to determine who was behind the graffiti.
