Rape suspect barricade situation comes to end in Northwest DC, police say

- A barricade situation that began Wednesday night has come to an end Thursday morning in Northwest, D.C. with a suspected rapist in custody, according to officials.

DC police said a man who was a suspect in a rape case barricaded himself inside of a home on the 3300 block of Mt. Pleasant Street at about 9 p.m. on Wednesday. The situation began when officers from Arlington County were trying to serve the man a warrant, authorities stated.

Investigators said the man was alone inside of the home and was believed to be armed with a knife. Officers said he had threatened to harm himself.

Members of the FBI joined local law enforcement at the scene Thursday morning and neighbors were advised to stay inside while the road was closed to traffic.

Authorities confirmed the barricaded ended with the suspect, identified as 60-year-old Salodus Zeloter Hicks, being taken into custody for forcible rape and strangulation.

Arlington County police confirmed Hicks was wanted for the rape of a woman in the 5500 block of Columbia Pike on Sept. 17.
