Prince William man impersonates cop, firefighter

DUMFRIES, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - Prince William County police say they arrested a man who pulled over another person while impersonating a police officer.

Police say they found Santiago, 21, in a car with red-and-white flashing lights Thursday morning at Van Buren Road and Fettler Park Drive in Dumfries.

They say Santiago, of Triangle, was wearing a bulletproof vest and gun belt in his car. He identified himself as a government contractor and then a volunteer firefighter.

Police say they later learned Santiago had stopped his car and turned on his flashing lights to "engage with a citizen." They discovered he was not a law enforcement officer or firefighter after running employment checks.

Santiago is now charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer and impersonating a firefighter. His next court date is in September.
