Police seek person of interest after man found shot to death on Prince George's County roadway

Police in Prince George's County are asking the public for help solving a murder after a man was shot and killed in the middle of the day during rush hour traffic earlier this month.

The shooting happened on May 9 at around 6 p.m. on Annapolis Road at the Baltimore-Washington Parkway. Responding officers found 29-year-old James Edwards dead from multiple gunshot wounds on the roadway.

Investigators do not believe the shooting was a random act, but rather that Edwards was targeted. There were several witnesses to what happened, but no arrest has been made in the case yet.

"Our investigators have covered every avenue possible to try to bring all the evidence together to narrow down this person of interest or any suspects that there may be," said Prince George's County Cpl. Lamar Robinson. "All we need are some key points to help bring this case to a close. That is why we are encouraging the public to give us a call."

On Tuesday, police released surveillance video of a person of interest whom police want to question. The video, which was taken about 15 minutes after the shooting, shows a man walking into a convenience store on South Dakota Avenue in D.C. This person was seen inside a vehicle, but is only a person of interest at this time.

A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
