Police make arrest in Silver Spring wig store robbery, attack

Montgomery County police said an arrest has been made and charges are pending against another suspect for the robbery and attack of two employees inside a beauty supply store in Silver Spring.

On July 27, three people attempted to steal wigs from Esther's Beauty Salon/Supplies located in the 9300 block of Georgia Avenue. Surveillance video from inside the store that was released by police showed the suspects attacking two store employees along with using pepper spray during the robbery.

Both workers were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to police, detectives received several tips since the release of the video that has led to the arrest of 19-year-old Curtis Pegues, of Temple Hills, Maryland. He has been charged with armed robbery and first-degree assault.

Police said they have also identified a 14-year-old boy from Washington D.C. as a second suspect in the attack. Charges are pending against him.

The third suspect remains unidentified at this time.
