Authorities are investigating a string of small business burglaries in the Ashburn and Sterling areas.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office says three Asian restaurants were burglarized in Ashburn over the last week.

Now, they are looking into whether three more similar burglaries at the Church Road Plaza in Sterling Friday morning are also connected.

In the most recent crimes, an Indian restaurant, a Chinese restaurant and a nail salon were all targeted.

The sheriff's office says there was forced entry in all locations with shattered glass and broken doors resulting from the burglaries. Cash and cash registers were stolen in each incident.

Money was also taken from cash registers in the three overnight burglaries in Ashburn. The first burglary happened on Sept. 11 at the Good Fortune Chinese Restaurant in Junction Plaza.

On Sept. 16, The King's Buffet Restaurant on Cascades Parkway and the Hunan Village Restaurant in the Piccadilly Plaza were broken into.

The sheriff's office is urging all businesses to remove all money from cash registers when they close as well as leaving the registers open to avoid any more damage.
