WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - Police say they are investigating a homicide after two people were found dead in a burning Southeast D.C. home Saturday morning.
D.C. police say 60-year-old Joseph Burgess and 50-year-old Regina Bowman, of Southeast, DC were found dead in the house at the 3300 Block of Ely Place.
DC Fire responded to the home at around 6:30 a.m. They say once the fire was extinguished, investigators found the two victims inside the home.
Police say Burgess and Bowman were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
On Sunday, January 6, 2019, an autopsy was performed on the victims’ remains. As a result of the autopsy, the Medical Examiner's Officer ruled the manner of death for each victim was homicide.
Officials tell FOX 5 it took at least 80 firefighters to put out the fire out.
D.C. police say they are offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction any people responsible for the victims' death.
