Police cruiser hits woman in Reston

RESTON, Va. (FOX 5 DC) -- Fairfax County police say an officer hit a woman with a squad car early Sunday in Reston.

They say the officer had a green light and was driving straight through the intersection of Reston Parkway and Sunset Hill Road when a 42-year-old woman walked into the roadway.

It happened around 2 a.m.

The woman went to a nearby hospital for non-life threatening injuries and the officer was uninjured. Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors for the officer. Police say alcohol may have been a factor for the woman.

Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call police at (703) 280-0543.
