Capitol Heights, Md. - Prince George's County Police have arrested a suspect in the murder 68-year-old Alonzo Jackson, announcing it as Jackson's family and friends gathered for a vigil Sunday evening.
Jackson, a father and grandfather who worked for 30 years at Safeway, was shot July 20 during a carjacking at a gas station in the 4900 block of Marlboro Pike. He died several hours later at a nearby hospital.
Police said a tip led them to arrest 20-year-old Demarko Wheeler who is now charged with first-degree murder.

Jackson was remembered as the kind of guy who always saw the best in people, and would have likely wanted to help the young man who took his life.
