Police arrest, identify man who fired shots at One Loudoun Friday night

Investigators say a man has turned himself in to authorities after police say he fired shots during a domestic incident at One Loudoun shopping center.

Investigators say 48-year-old John Abel from Catlett. Va. turned himself in to police on charges of domestic assault, brandishing a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm and discharging a firearm in a public place.

According to investigators, Abel was last seen running on foot shortly after 9 p.m. on Friday, after an apparent domestic altercation in the 20700 block of Easthampton Plaza near the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Ashburn.

Loudoun County Sheriff's Office says they responded for calls for an incident between Abel and a woman, when they say he fired several gunshots into the air.

They say Abel had threatened to harm himself, but the woman was able to get the gun out of his possession.

Police say Abel fled, but they were able to locate the gun and no one was hurt.

Anyone with information that could aid detectives in their investigation is urged to call Loudoun County Sheriff's Office at (703) 777-1021.
