WASHINGTON - A toddler, who police initially said had been shot in the leg was not struck by gunfire, authorities say.
Officials say they responded to the 1100 block of K Street in Southeast, D.C. around 4 p.m. Sunday where they found a two-year-old boy who was thought to have been shot.
The child was found outside an apartment complex near a playground area and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Later in the evening, authorities told FOX 5 that the child had not suffered from gunshot wounds. They did not describe the nature of his injuries but did say that Child and Family Services were now investigating the matter.
