GAITHERSBURG, Md. - A tractor trailer carrying spices and televisions overturned Wednesday night scattering items across a Montgomery County highway ramp leading to major delays during the Thursday morning rush.
The crash was reported around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday on the ramp from I-370 west to I-270 south in Gaithersburg.
Officials say the crash caused the guardrail to pass through the tractor trailer and overturn. Its load, which included spices and television sets, spilled across the roadway blocking the ramp to traffic. A heavy piece of equipment also fell from the truck.
The driver suffered potentially serious injuries in the crash.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Officials said the ramp was closed through the morning rush.
