Obama nominates 2 for US Attorney in DC, Virginia

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama nominated six people, including one each in the nation's capital and Virginia, to serve as U.S. Attorneys.

Obama nominated Dana J. Boente for the Eastern District of Virginia and Channing D. Phillips for the District of Columbia on Thursday.

Boente is the acting U.S. Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia. He has worked in that office since 2000.

He received his law degree from St. Louis University School of Law, and an MBA and BSBA from St. Louis University.

The Eastern District of Virginia includes northern Virginia, Newport News, Norfolk and Richmond.

Phillips has been deputy assistant associate general for the Attorney General since 2010.

Phillips received a law degree from Howard University School of Law and a B.A. from the University of Virginia.
