'Not this time': Frederick man eats drugs during police stop in Maryland, police say

- (AP) — Authorities say a Maryland man was chewing on a bag of drugs when a police officer approached him during a traffic stop.

The Frederick News-Post reports charging documents state an officer saw a car driven by 58-year-old Timothy Carmon fail to stop before pulling out of a parking lot around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The officer said he recognized Carmon from previous drug incidents, and ordered him to spit out what he was chewing.

He saw what appeared to be a small bag of crack cocaine when Carmon briefly opened his mouth.

Carmon told the officer: "Not this time."

A search of the car found paraphernalia and a rock of crack cocaine.

Carmon was hospitalized and subsequently released and charged with multiple offenses. It's unclear if he has a lawyer.
