National Air and Space Museum celebrates 40th anniversary

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the opening of its flagship building in the nation's capital, the National Air and Space Museum for the first time opened its doors all night to visitors starting from 9 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. the following day.

The "All Night at the Museum" event kicked off at 8:30 p.m. with a ceremony outside of the museum at the same spot where they opened the building back in 1976.

In addition to the ceremony, the museum also reopened the renovated Boeing Milestones of Flight Hall exhibit.

A film festival, music by the U.S. Air Force Band, tours of Boeing Milestones of Flight Hall and a scavenger hunt were just some of the free activities scheduled to take place at the museum on this night. Special guests were in attendance as well.
