Mother, 12-year-old daughter injured in Fairfax County hit-and-run

- Police are searching for a driver responsible for a hit-and-run that injured a Falls Church mother and her 12-year-old daughter in Fairfax County over the weekend.

Investigators say the victims were crossing Columbia Pike near Tyler Street in a marked crosswalk when they were struck by a vehicle believed to be a dark blue newer-model Mercedes. The collision happened at around 10 p.m. Saturday while it was raining heavily.

The driver left the scene following the crash. The mother and daughter were both taken to the hospital. Their condition is unknown at this time.

According to police, detectives say speed does not appear to be factor in the incident.
