GERMANTOWN, Md. - A Montgomery County Public Schools teacher has been placed on administrative leave after he was arrested during a raid at a bar in D.C. earlier this month.
Scott Price was charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession with the intent to distribute after authorities responded to the Mason Inn in Northwest D.C. on Feb. 1.
When they arrived at the business, officers found a vendor table with 102 assorted edibles, five capsules containing brown liquid, nine bags of marijuana and two jars of marijuana.
Price was arrested along with two other people, including a counselor at Sherwood High School in Montgomery County. Erin McKenna was also placed on administrative leave pending the result of an investigation.
Price is a digital art teacher at Kingsview Middle School and technology teacher at Wheaton High School.
In a letter sent home to parents, Kingsview principal Dyan Harrison said in part, “We are committed to providing a safe learning environment for our students. The staff member is on administrative leave pending the results of an investigation.” She also stated the school system was only made aware of the teacher's arrest Wednesday night.
Price has been an employee with Montgomery County Public Schools since 2004.
Authorities have been cracking down on underground “pot parties” at businesses in the District. Marijuana is legal to possess and gift in limited amounts, but it is illegal to sell marijuana in the District of Columbia.
