Montgomery County police seek teen who stabbed rec center worker

Police in Montgomery County are looking for a teenage boy who the say stabbed a man trying to break up a fight at a graduation party Saturday night.

Investigators say a group rented out the Wisconsin Place Community Recreation Center near the Friendship Heights metro station. Police say at the end of the party around 11 p.m. a teen who wasn't invited showed up and began fighting with others in attendance.

A 60-year-old worker at the center jumped in to break up the fight and was stabbed by the teen, police say.

Detectives say the teen ran from the community center and hopped on the metro. They say they know the suspect's name, but have not released it publicly. The teen will likely face assault charges once police find him.

The worker stabbed was admitted to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
