Md. driver charged with DUI after crash injures 3 children inside his car

A Waldorf man has been arrested with driving under the influence and reckless driving after being involved in a single vehicle crash that left three children injured, authorities say.

The Charles County Sheriff's Office says at around 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to St. Charles Parkway at Gallery Place in St. Charles for the report of a vehicle crash. Officers found a 2015 Honda Pilot off the roadway unoccupied and heavily damaged after striking several trees.

Witnesses told officers that the driver of the vehicle left the scene on foot with at least one child with him.

The sheriff's office received another call for the report of an injured in the 2900 block of Jones Court. Responding officers found three children injured from the car crash at that location. The kids, ages 6, 9, and 12, were flown to Children's National Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities say while canvassing the area for a report of gunshots, an officer later located 31-year-old Adrian Gerard Lockley, the driver of the vehicle.

The sheriff's office says the investigation in this case is ongoing.
