Man shot, killed in car on DC Beltway

Police in Prince George's County are investigating a shocking murder on the Beltway that left a father of four shot behind the wheel of his car. Officers say Adriano Lombre, 55, was discovered by an officer just before midnight on northbound 495 at Pennsylvania Avenue.

They say his car was stopped in an outer lane, there were shell casings around his car and he had been shot multiple times.

Investigators still don't know who killed him or why.

Police said Sunday that no one called to report a shooting or incident.

"We're confident that somebody had to have seen something," said Capt. Anthony Schartner. "The Beltway at that time of the night is extremely busy."

Lombre's daughter says her dad had a party at their home Saturday and ended shuttling people around. She says he was driving a friend home to D.C. and called his family on the way home to say he was 15 minutes away. He never returned.

"The most caring dad," Christina Lombre said of her father. "I'm going to miss our talks. We would literally talk every day. He would ask me to come in his room and you know, we had a little chat literally every day.

Neighbors were stunned by the news of Lombre's death. He was described as a friendly person who loved car

Police say Lombre was driving a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis with white Crome wheels, and a Redskins decal in the rear window reading "SKIN FAN FOR LIFE."

Investigators are asking that anyone driving on the Beltway from 11:30 to 11:55 p.m. Saturday to call them with information. Police say no detail is too small.
