WASHINGTON - Police say a man was shot after his vehicle was stolen during a carjacking in Southeast D.C. Monday.
The incident happened in the 500 block of Newcomb Street at around 1:30 p.m.
The victim suffered a single gunshot wound, but was conscious and breathing, according to police.
"My husband called me and told me he got shot," said Brigetta Young, who identified herself as the wife of the victim. "He was standing out here talking and they started shooting and he took off running and he just got shot in the leg."
Police say they are searching for a tan-colored 2014 Toyota 4Runner.
