Man in custody after making threats against US Capitol

A Louisiana man is in custody after he threatened to shoot people at the U.S. Capitol when the government reopened.

U.S. Capitol Police had information about Adrian Daigle, and according to a bulletin obtained by FOX 5, police knew he was in the Washington D.C. area.

The 36-year-old's 1999 silver Lincoln Town Car had been picked up by law enforcement tag readers in Virginia and the District.

The bulletin said he was armed and dangerous and suffers from various mental health disorders.

The bulletin specifically said Daigle was waiting for the government to reopen after recovering from the snowstorm.

Early Tuesday morning in Jessup, Maryland, he was found by Howard County police and taken to a hospital for a mental health evaluation.

No charges were immediately placed against him, but a source familiar with the investigation said police found unregistered ammunition in the car.

The police chief in Welch, Louisiana said they were looking for Daigle after he made threats against people there and violated his probation.

It is still unclear why the mayor's office got involved in assisting police in getting the word out. A spokesperson said D.C. police asked for their help.

Daigle recently spent a year in jail in Louisiana on a charge of attempted first-degree murder. That charge was later dropped.
