Police: Man tried to bring gun to baby shower after fight

WALDORF, Md. (AP) -- The Charles County Sheriff's Office says a man who tried to bring a gun to a baby shower after an earlier fight was arrested.

The department said in a news release that two men attending a baby shower Saturday afternoon in a Waldorf recreation center got into an argument. Deputies say a man who was assaulted left the party, went to his car and got a loaded AR-15 automatic gun.

Authorities say other people at the party saw the man approaching and locked the door to the rec center. Police say another person called police after seeing a man carrying a gun nearby.

Deputies say the man, 21-year-old Rodrigueze Nowlin Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina, was arrested without incident.

Nowlin was charged with more than two dozen offenses, including assault.
