CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. - A man was struck and killed by a Metro train Monday night, authorities say.
Metro spokesperson Dan Stessel said the victim was hit at around 7:15 p.m. at the Capitol Heights station.
Prince George’s County Fire and EMS spokesperson Mark Brady tweeted that the man was trapped under the Largo-bound train about 200 feet into the tunnel.
Stessel said foul play is not suspected in this incident and police are investigating if it was intentional or accidental.
“He did appear from camera footage to be possibly unsteady on his feet prior to falling onto the tracks, but whether that was intentional or not, we do not yet know,” said Stessel.
The Capitol Heights station was temporarily closed, but has since reopened. Trains were single-tracking between Stadium-Armory and Addison Rd stations Monday night.
