Man charged with trying to run over woman with car in road rage incident; victim speaks to FOX 5

WALDORF, Md. - A Maryland woman is lucky to be alive after a road rage incident in Waldorf.

Maryland State Police say the incident happened just before 10:45 p.m. Wednesday at Route 301 and Mattawoman Drive.

The victim, who did not want to be identified, says she was driving home from work at the time. As she headed northbound on Route 301, a man merging into the road sideswiped her multiple times. At that point, she stopped and tried to exchange insurance information.

"He didn't respond," the woman explained. "He just had a blank face."

So she pulled out her phone to take a photo of the car's tags. That is when she says the man accelerated toward her. She had to jump onto the hood of his car to avoid being pinned between his car and her car. Then, she told FOX 5 the man sped off with her still on the hood.

"It was in his eyes," she added. "I could tell when he accelerated he was going to try to crash his car to get me off the hood."

The woman made a quick decision.

"I jumped off," she recalled. "I kind of did like a tuck-and-roll thing. I just jumped off like in the action movies. It was pretty much life or death. I'd rather break a couple bones instead of being extremely hurt."

She was treated at a nearby hospital. Amazingly, she only suffered a broken toe and swollen leg.

The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old Andre Crews. The Waldorf man is charged with first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and multiple traffic violations. He is being held in the Charles County Detention Center pending a bond review.
