Man assaults bicyclist after hitting him with SUV

Anne Arundel County police say a man ran into a bicyclist with his SUV and then assaulted the bicyclist before driving away.

Police say 61-year-old Michael Moody faces numerous charges from the encounter Saturday morning in Davidsonville. The 59-year-old bicyclist was left with a broken arm, a broken rib and leg injuries.

According to police, Moody was following the cyclist when the cyclist tried to wave him by. Police say the cyclist approached a curve and moved to the middle of the road for his own safety.

Police say Moody tried to pass the cyclist and hit him. Afterward, police say Moody assaulted the cyclist and threw his bicycle tire into some woods.

Moody was released after posting $25,000 bond. He did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
