WASHINGTON - FOX 5 has partnered with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as the official media sponsor of the annual Light The Night Walk. Our goal is to help fund blood cancer research and to help patients and their families.
Over the past few weeks, we have introduced you to a few key players in this fight.
Abby Friedman, Claire Brindley and Reva Stidd of Team Atlas Research are walking in memory of their friend. Their group has raised nearly $22,000 and joined us on FOX 5 News to discuss more about her and the event.
“We all worked together at Atlas Research and we reached out to LLS when we lost our amazing friend and co-worker, Erin Boyle,” said Brindley. “She passed away from acute myeloid lymphoma in March and she was such a passionate advocate for quality health care for everyone. She dedicated her life and her education to that, so she was such an inspiration to us and we wanted to continue her legacy with this walk.”
The final Light The Night Walk will be held this Saturday at Freedom Plaza in D.C. FOX 5's Laura Evans is the honorary walk chair and emcee for this year’s event and many of us from FOX 5 will also be there to walk and show our support.
There is still time to sign up and join us this weekend. Go to www.lightthenight.org/nca for more information.
