Lawyers: Va. Lt. Gov. Fairfax renewing request for investigation into sexual assault allegations

RICHMOND, Va. (FOX 5 DC) -- Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax's lawyers said they're renewing a request for a criminal investigation into allegations of sexual assault against him.

The allegations, dating back to 2004, were made by Dr. Vanessa Tyson and Meredith Watson.

In letters obtained by FOX 5 late Wednesday, Fairfax's legal team sent letters to both the Suffolk County and Durham County district attorney's offices that said the allegations should be "promptly and fully" investigated.

The letters said, in part, "...if an investigation were to determine that the allegation is false, the matter should be closed and the public informed."
