WASHINGTON - Hazmat crews investigated after a substance was found in a backpack in northwest DC on Sunday evening. One person who had an adverse reaction to the substance was treated by D.C. Fire & EMS crews at the scene, FOX 5's Marina Marraco reported.
Fire crews said the backpack was found in the 400 block of 19th Street NW. Several surrounding roads were closed while the investigation was underway.
D.C. Fire and EMS tweeted that there was no evidence of any hazardous substance, and the scene was being cleared just after 6:30 pm. The person who was treated at the scene was later transported for evaluation.
