Forest Glen station to close for emergency drill

SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) -- Metro officials say they'll be closing the Forest Glen station on the red line for an emergency response drill.

Metro said in a statement that the exercise will take place Sunday morning. Metro says emergency personnel will practice their response to two scenarios. One of the exercises is a smoke and fire incident in a tunnel outside Forest Glen. The other is a suspicious package on a bus.

Metro says the exercise will test ventilation fan systems and coordination and communication among emergency responders, rail operations staff and transit police. Metro says more than 100 emergency responders and volunteers are expected to participate in the exercise, the third of its kind this year.

Metro says the exercise will begin at 7 a.m. and end no later than 2 p.m.
