Flash Flood potential for DC-metro area Sunday

The National Weather Service says there is a potential for more flash flooding Sunday afternoon into the evening for the DC-metro area.

The flash flooding could last until midnight, they say. While rain is not as widespread as Saturday, targeted areas may get repetitive bouts of heavy showers and thunderstorms.

Meteorologist Mike Thomas says heavier showers with some thunderstorms are pushing their way northwestward out of southern Maryland. He says they look like they are due to cross the immediate metro area through Sunday afternoon.

Weather officials and local authorities recommend that those who are out on roads should beware of flooded roads and not go through them.

They say Saturday's storm hit totals of 4 to 6 inches in some spots, with other areas getting 7 inches or more.

Turn around, don't drown.
