Firefighters battling large fire at carpet store in Suitland

- With heavy snow still falling in the area Saturday night, Prince George’s County firefighters are battling a heavy fire at a carpet store in Suitland.

The fire happened in the 4600 block of Silver Hill Road across the street from the headquarters of the U.S. Census Bureau.

Prince George’s County Fire and EMS spokesperson Mark Brady tweeted that high winds are fanning the flames and extending the blaze into other areas of the building. But the bulk of the fire has been knocked down and firefighters are working to put out the numerous hotspots remaining.

No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
