Fans continue excitement for 2018 FIFA World Cup with Iran-Portugal watch parties across DC area

As fans get ready to watch Iran face off against Portugal, 2018 FIFA World Cup fan madness continues in the DMV.

At Tysons Biergarten in Tysons Corner, FOX 5's Annie Yu spoke to Team Iran fans who are excited for the big match.

"So far everybody seems to be super excited. They just really happy to get together and have some fun together and enjoy great soccer watch these guys play their hearts out and see who gets on top," says Tysons Biergarten co-owner Paymon Hadjiesmaeiloo.

With such an international population the DMV, every team in the FIFA World Cup is supported in some way. Tysons Biergarten owners say they have been packed for every game.

The excitement is also present at Caddies on Cordell in Bethesda, Maryland. FOX5's Mike Thomas spoke with Rudy, who says this year's FIFA World Cup has been intense but a lot of fun.

"We have never had a World Cup like this. So many competitive close games. Everybody is trying hard -- most teams are trying hard. One or two teams are not doing as good. It has been fantastic and it will go all the way until July 15. Everybody has got to get involved and watch these games," he said.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup begins June 14 on FOX.
