Excitement builds ahead of papal visit

WASHINGTON -- Many Catholics are looking forward to Pope Francis' scheduled visit to the District next month.

His visit will include meetings with President Obama, addressing Congress and he will celebrate a public Mass.

The Archdiocese of Washington is still working out details for tickets to the September 23 public service at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

Catholic News Service reports some tickets will be distributed through parishes and Catholic Charities, but people can also enter to win tickets to the Mass through a video contest.

If you are unable to get tickets for the outdoor service at the Basilica, there will be screens set up around the city to watch it.
