WASHINGTON - D.C.’s new marijuana law has entrepreneurs thinking about ways they can benefit. A man who calls himself Mr. Kush God is handing out pot-laced sweets out on the streets.
If you happen to see a marijuana-colored Mercedes-Benz SUV with the logo, Kush Gods, on it in D.C., you might wonder what it's all about.
For those of you in the know, Kush is slang for a type of marijuana. And you will find it in these little gummies and these brownie pops, which were already given out for the evening.
“Everything is top shelf,” said Mr. Kush God. “OG Kush -- indoor grown -- that’s what everything is infused.”
He has two pot mobiles that frequent Adams Morgan, U Street and the 14th Street corridor. He has been in the District for three months, but don't accuse him of selling pot.
“We actually don't sell anything,” he said. “We take donations because with the laws, it's legal to give it away to everybody. We make sure people are 21 or older. Whatever they would like to donate is fine. Sometimes it's large, sometimes it's a minimum.”
A suggested donation for the brownies is $10. It is also the same for ten gummies. He said most people understand the law and want him to keep coming back, so they fork over the cash.
If you are into the locally grown movement, he said, “I actually have a chef from here that helps me out and I know different growers in the area. It's directly from here.”
You will find the Kush cars out and about every day from 2 p.m to 10 p.m. He told us D.C. police don't bother with him because they have bigger fish to fry and he is technically not violating any laws -- except we did parking enforcement giving him a ticket on this night for a parking violation.
