Driver facing multiple charges in connection to fatal Bowie crash that left 6 dead

A grand jury issued a 12 count indictment against the driver in connection with a fatal crash that left six dead, including five children, in Bowie in early February, the Prince George's County State's Attorney announced Tuesday.

Prince George's County State's Attorney Aisha N. Braveboy says Dominique Taylor, 32, has been charged with six counts of vehicular manslaughter and six counts of vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol.

An investigation revealed Taylor was driving a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica with six passengers on Route 301 near Pointer Ridge Drive in Bowie at around 4:25 a.m. on February 2. Braveboy says Taylor lost control of the vehicle and it spun off the road and hit several trees.

According to Braveboy, Taylor's blood alcohol content (BAC) during the crash was at least twice above the legal limit at 0.16.

The five children were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash and were all thrown from the vehicle, Braveboy says. All of the children died at the scene.

Weeks later, Taylor's front seat passenger, 23-year-old Cornell Simon, died from his injuries.

Braveboy says Taylor could face up to 60 years in prison if convicted.
