1 killed in triple shooting at Alexandria apartment complex

One man was killed and two others were injured after a shooting at an apartment complex in the Mount Vernon area of Fairfax County Wednesday night.

Police say they received a call shortly after 10 p.m. about the shooting in the 7900 block of Audubon Avenue in Alexandria.

Two of the men were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital where a 22-year-old later died. A third man self-reported his injuries at Mount Vernon Hospital.

Detectives remained on the scene early Thursday morning, moving in and out of the apartment building where the shooting happened.

Police believe the shooting may have stemmed from a dispute inside the apartment. There is no wider public safety threat, authorities said.

They are investigating the possibility that the shooting is related to the altercation at the residence.
