Detectives investigate robbery of WSSC crew

TEMPLE HILLS, Md. - Detectives are investigating the robbery of four members of a Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission crew early Sunday morning.

A suspect approached the crew at around 2:45 a.m. as they were repairing a broken water main in the 4100 block of 24th Avenue, officials say. The suspect, who was armed with a gun, then stole personal items from the victims and ran away toward Kenton Place.

Prince George's County Police are leading the investigation with the support of the WSSC Police Department.

"I want each and every WSSC employee to know that their safety on the job is paramount," said Carla A. Reid, WSSC General Manager/CEO. "This was a frightening ordeal for our employees who were simply trying to do their job. We will provide them with the appropriate support services needed in light of this incident."

Repairs to the broken water main were completed and all affected residents have water.
