TYSONS, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - Police say a pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene after the crash in Fairfax County. Officials say the pedestrian was hit and killed at the ramp from eastbound Leesburg Pike to southbound Interstate 495 in the Tysons area around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
FOX 5’s Jaclyn Kelly spoke to members of the victim’s family who said the victim was a man who worked the overnight shift at a nearby Shell gas station and was walking home after his shift when he was struck. Officers say the vehicle involved left the scene.
At this time, eastbound Leesburg Pike remains closed and drivers can expect delays in the area.
Detectives are working to identify the pedestrian killed this morning in a hit-and-run in Vienna. Preliminarily they believe he was walking near RT 7 and I495 between 6:15 and 6:45.
