DC woman unloading groceries carjacked at gunpoint by group of masked suspects

D.C. police are searching for several people involved in an armed carjacking of a woman unloading her groceries Sunday evening.

It happened at around 6:20 p.m. in the 5600 block of Western Avenue in the Chevy Chase neighborhood of Northwest D.C.

The victim told FOX 5 that she was unloading the groceries behind her house when a group of five young men approached her. One of the suspects pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded the key to her car. She handed it over to them and the suspects took off in the vehicle.

The victim said the suspects were wearing masks that covered the bottom half of their faces and believes they were between 15 and 19 years old. She said you could tell that they were novices as they had some trouble starting the car.

Police are on the lookout for a blue 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe with DC tag EN1190. The vehicle was last seen heading eastbound on Northampton Street from Belt Road.
