DC ranks 2nd for most gallons of alcohol consumed in US, study says

Washingtonians consume the second most gallons of alcohol in the U.S., according to a recently published study.

The study from Better Addiction Care, which cited data from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, states that DC consumes 3.89 gallons of ethanol per year, per capita, for population aged 14 and above.

That was only second to New Hampshire, which consumes 4.65 gallons per year, according to the study.

Rounding out the top five was Delaware, North Dakota and Nevada.

DC's neighbors drank much less, according to the study, with Maryland ranking 29th with 2.39 gallons and Virginia coming in at No. 42 with 2.13 gallons.

Utah consumed the fewest least amount of alcohol, taking in 1.37 gallons, according to the data.
