DC issues permit to allow Wawa to build store in Georgetown, report says

- Wawa is one step closer to arriving in Georgetown.

The convenience store chain has received a permit to begin building its store on Wisconsin Avenue nearby Prospect Street at the space of Restoration Hardware, which is expected to close soon, according to the Washington Business Journal

The Georgetown location would be the second Wawa store to open up in D.C. Last December, the first location in the District opened up on 19th Street in Northwest D.C. near downtown.

The Pennsylvania-based chain, which is known for its built-to-order hoagies, sandwiches and coffee, is aiming to open up five to 10 stores in D.C. in the next few years as it expands into the mid-Atlantic region. Wawa has nearly 800 stores located in the East Coast in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Florida and Washington D.C.
