DC FIREWORKS FORECAST: Rain, thunderstorms possible for Fourth of July fireworks

Revelers looking to celebrate the 241st birthday of the United States in the District will experience humid conditions and the possibility of scattered rain and thunderstorms late Tuesday evening.

Two weather systems, one coming from the west and one from the north, will meet in the general Metro area at about 3 p.m.

The systems will create a 40 percent chance of scattered rain and thunderstorms throughout the region until 10 p.m.

Sunset will be at 8:37 p.m. and D.C.'s famous Fourth of July fireworks on the National Mall will start at 9:09 p.m.

Conditions for the start of the fireworks display will be humid and sticky with temperatures in the low 80s.

Low temperatures will dip into the low 70s later in the evening.

Since the rain and thunderstorms will be scattered, it's difficult to determine what the exact location and timing will be, but those taking in the festivities should be prepared by grabbing their umbrella or rain ponchos.

Remember, if you're heading to the National Mall to watch the fireworks, you can't bring an umbrella larger than 36 inches in diameter (those smaller than 36 inches will be allowed).
