DC firefighter shot at girlfriend, police say

A D.C. firefighter shot at his girlfriend during a dispute early Thursday morning, according to authorities.

Police said the shooting happened at about 1:15 a.m. in the 5400 block of Dix Street in the Northeast.

The victim reported that the firefighter, identified as Fletcher Raekwon, threatened to shoot her after a verbal argument on the phone Wednesday evening.

Early the next day, the woman told police that Raekwon found her on Dix Street, drove his car near her, and opened fire before fleeing in his vehicle.

Raekwon turned himself in to police and faces several charges including assault, carrying a pistol without a license, and felony threats.

The D.C. Fire Department said Raekwon was placed on leave and an internal review was being conducted.
