Dale City man wins $1 million in Mega Millions

A Dale City man was so excited that his wife was afraid he would have a heart attack.

About two weeks ago, Marcus Cobb purchased a Mega Millions lottery ticket from a Shell gas station in Woodbridge for the $451 million jackpot drawing on Jan. 5.

According to Virginia Lottery, on the morning after the winning numbers were drawn, Cobb didn't even bother checking his numbers because he heard the sole winning jackpot ticket was bought in Florida. However, when he finally did check his ticket, Cobb missed the Mega Ball, but did match the first five winning numbers -- good enough for $1 million.

"I looked at my ticket and I was stunned!" Cobb said. "I looked at the ticket again and again, and then I started yelling to wake everyone up!"

Cobb and his wife plan to save the winnings for their children's college education.
