Chevy Chase named snobbiest small town in America

CHEVY CHASE, Md. - Chevy Chase is one of the nation's wealthiest cities. But according to a website that rates the best places to live in the United States, it is also the snobbiest small town in America.

AreaVibes studied over 20,000 towns with a population of fewer than 25,000 people and ranked them based on median home price, median household income, percent of population with a college degree, private schools per capita, theaters per capita and art galleries per capita.

According to the website, the Maryland city took the top spot as "lots of the homes in Chevy Chase are the most expensive in the U.S. Like many other cities on this list, you'd have to shell out more than a million bucks to get something 'decent' in Chevy Chase. It helps when 82% of the population has a college degree."

In addition to Chevy Chase, two nearby Maryland towns took the next two spots on this list. Somerset, Md., and Martin's Additions, Md., were ranked second and third respectively.

While some may question AreaVibes' criteria of what is considered snobby, the website also said:

"Sure, we might have poked a little harmless fun at these 10 snobby small towns in America, but hey, it's only because we're jealous.

"High incomes, expensive homes, and excellent educations? That sounds pretty charming to us. Who wouldn't want that?!"
