Charles Co. man suspected of murdering his own mother, who was found dead on side of road in Waldorf

A Charles County man has been arrested after police say he killed his mom, who was found dead on the side of a road Thursday night.

Charles County Sheriff says Mario Dunn stabbed his mother while she was behind the wheel, driving them home. They say he threw her body out of the car on the side the road, less than two miles away from the home they shared.

The 32-year-old was arrested two days ago, after investigators served a search warrant at their home. He's accused of stabbing his mother, 57-year-old Swanda Dunn, while they were driving home from a relative's house Thursday evening. It's unclear at this point what lead up to the stabbing.

SkyFox was live over the scene that night when Swanda Dunn's body was found along Old Washington Road near Smallwood Drive. She was found with no identification on her, so originally authorities put out pictures of her tattoos in hopes someone could recognize them.

Now her son, Mario is charged with first and second-degreee murder, assault and other charges.

FOX 5 did speak to a long-time neighbor, who says Corporal Dunn was a D.C. Corrections Officer, and that her son Mario may have suffered from some mental health issues.
