Bus attendant, bus driver facing felony child abuse charges in Prince William County

Prince William County Police say a bus attendant was caught on camera physically assaulting a 12-year-old boy with a developmental disability on at least three occasions and the bus driver reportedly did not try to intervene or alert authorities.

Bus attendant Kelly Marlon Rucker, 52, reportedly assaulted the boy on the school bus while police say the bus driver, Tamar Denise McNear, 46, stood by and did nothing to stop the attack, nor did she report it to police.

Rucker was arrested Friday and has since posted bond. He is charged with three felony counts for child abuse.

McNear, who lives in Fredericksburg, turned herself in Monday -- she's facing three felony counts for child endangerment.

The incidents reportedly involve the same child and apparently happened back in January.

A Prince William County Public Schools spokesperson says both employees have been removed from contact with students and have not driven any PWCS buses since January. Any school system employee found guilty of a felony is automatically dismissed. Employees arrested on felony charges are placed on leave pending the outcome of internal investigations, according to PWCPS.
