The dinner crowd at a Germantown McDonald's got quite the scare Tuesday night, as bullets flew just outside the restaurant, striking the building's glass window.

Montgomery County Police say two men were shot in front of the McDonald's on Gunners Branch Road near Frederick Road.

The shooting happened at around 6:20 p.m. A bullet hole is visible in the glass front of the McDonald's, right next to where a high chair was placed.

Investigators say the victims went inside the restaurant for help and were transported to the hospital. Both survived and are being treated.

"The suspect or suspects did flee," said Montgomery County Police Cpt. Paul Starks. "A perimeter was set up and canines were brought in for tracking."

The McDonald's is located among the busy Fox Chapel shopping center, with a grocery store, a gym, and several other restaurants.

"We're fortunate that more people weren't hurt," said Starks.

Police are looking into whether the shooting or any suspects were caught on surveillance video.

So far, there have been no arrests.
