Police say they are investigating a deadly crash between a bicyclist and a vehicle in Montgomery County Wednesday night.

The collision happened on Randolph Road and Connecticut Avenue at about 6:26 p.m. The vehicle remained at the scene, police say.

According to investigators, a 47-year-old man on a bicycle and a 57-year-old Silver Spring man driving a 2019 BMW M240i were both traveling westbound on Randolph Road approaching Goodhill Road. Police say the bicyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, collided with the BMW after crossing the westbound lanes of Randolph Road.

The bicyclist died from his injuries at the scene.

Police are still investigating why the bicyclist changed lanes on the roadway.

Several lanes on Randolph Road in both directions were closed between Connecticut Avenue and Goodhill Road as a Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the crash.
